Palliative Care

Palliative care, and the medical sub-specialty of palliative medicine, is specialized medical care for people living with serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.  Palliative care is provided by a team of palliative care doctors, nurses and other specialists who work together with a patient’s other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.

In the last 15 years the field of palliative care has had stunning growth. It is a rapidly rising trend. Increasing no of hospitals has a palliative care team today. And, palliative care is spreading beyond the hospital into community settings where people with serious illnesses actually live.  Palliative care sees the person beyond the disease.  We as palliative care team at Lakecity Hospital, Bhopal are working with the vision to care cancer (& other disease in advanced stage) patients and their families so that they can live with dignity, hope and comfort.  In “PALLIATIVE CARE” our efforts are targeted toward informed and compassionate medical, nursing and emotional care. We provide Home Care for cancer patients, as we understand most people prefer the comfort of their home. As cancer advances we are always there as companion for compassionate care and support that a person need.

Our doctors are well versed in pain management and are able to prescribe Opioids to manage severe pain as Care centre has a license to stock and supply oral Morphine. (the drug of choice worldwide for unremitting pain) Necessary information, advice and medicines are given for other distressing physical symptoms as well Though our services are run by professionally trained staff, but we also promote volunteer ship in palliative care for that we have selection criterion for recruiting volunteers. You can also support us by either time, material, or by donations.

  • Medical and nursing care to relieve pain and other distressing symptoms; 
  • Practical advice and support to family members in their role as caregivers; 
  • Medical equipment, supplies to those with special needs; 
  • Comfort & care that extends to all aspects of the individuals well being,; 
  • Bereavement counselling to grieving relatives if they need. 

Smile Train Foundation

Smile Train India is a not-for-profit company registered under Section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of 1956 with exemption u/s 80G of the IT Act. It is part of Smile Train – the world’s largest charity devoted exclusively to the cause of helping poor children born with cleft lips and cleft palates in developing countries. Lakecity Hospital works in a partnership program with Smile Train Foundation under which we have performed more than 730 surgeries.
